In Kalamazoo County, a family of 4 qualifies if they make less than $150,000!!!

The Michigan Home Energy Rebate Program (MiHER) is providing rebates to customers who upgrade the energy efficiency of their home. The rebates may help you insulate, air seal, install a heat pump, install a new furnace or air conditioner, install a new electrical panel, and more!

 

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

• Kalamazoo residents making less than 150% AMI are eligible.

• Enhanced energy audits are covered 100% by the State. Standard energy audits are covered 50% by the State.

 

WHAT UPGRADES CAN I RECEIVE?

• Upgrades vary by home. Each home receives an energy audit by a certified energy auditor to help determine the best way to reduce energy usage and reduce costs to YOU.

• Eligible upgrades may include insulation, air sealing, duct insulation, new furnace, new air conditioner, new electric heat pump, new electric panel, upgraded electrical wiring, or new windows.

HOW MUCH MONEY CAN I RECEIVE?

• The available rebates depend on the following:

  o Your income qualifies you as Enhanced or Standard rebate for each program.

  o Energy savings = Modeled Savings Tiers as shown below:

HOW DO I APPLY?

• STEP ONE: Apply online at https://mienergyrebates.clearesult.com/

  • YOU WILL NEED:

    • Verification of your income
    • Electric and gas providers and account numbers
    • Trade ally company name: BETTER WORLD BUILDERS
      • Email: MiHER@bwbgreen.com
  • MARK THE BOX “Please include the company contact on the application decision.” (NO income info is shared)
• STEP TWO: Receive your approval letter in your email from the State.
• STEP THREE: Contact Better World Builders with your approval letter.
• STEP FOUR: Better World Builders will schedule your energy audit and let you know the next steps!

 

Your energy audit will help Better World Builders to create a plan for your home’s upgrades for approval by the State of Michigan.

 

Participants will be provided with all the information regarding work, rebate amount, and out- of-pocket costs before any work is started.

 

Once the plan is approved by the State, the work can begin!

 

If the plan for your home exceeds the rebate amounts, there are low-cost loans available from Michigan Saves. Better World Builders is an approved contractor through Michigan Saves and can help you with the process!
