Radon Testing
Reasons Why You Want a Radon Test
You have:
- A dirt crawl space
- Cracks in your foundation
- Unexplained illnesses
- A sump pump system
- Concerns about lung cancer
When it comes to the health of your family or employees, you can't afford to take chances. So, when it comes to radon, it's imperative that you get answers. Exposure to radon can result in a number of serious health issues. And while older Battle Creek, MI, area homes and buildings are more likely to fall victim to radon problems, those who work or reside in newer structures are also at risk. At Better World Builders, we offer comprehensive radon inspections and tests designed to give you the answers you need and the peace of mind you deserve.
What Is Radon?
Radon is a Class A carcinogen and the second leading cause of lung cancer. It comes from the radioactive breakdown of naturally occurring radium found in most soils. As a gas in the soil, it enters Battle Creek, MI, area homes and buildings through small openings in the foundation. Since the home or building can hold the radon similarly to smoke trapped under a glass, indoor radon concentrations can increase to many times that of outdoor levels.
The only way to know whether your home has elevated radon levels is to test your home. There are no physical signs to warn you of the presence of radon, and it cannot be detected with the senses. And since radon levels can vary significantly from home to home, you can't use your neighbor's test results to determine whether or not your home has a problem. Your home must be tested.
